Ancient Statue Fossil Ammonite Rock Prehistoric Specimen 9lbs. Fossil9 X1

Here we have a stunning multi-specimen ammonite fossil cluster, featuring multiple extinct shelled marine cephalopods, naturally and tightly cemented together in a dense limestone matrix.

Featuring a variety of sizes, this three-dimensional relief depicts smooth, polished amber-brown surface tones alongside intricate, lace-like suture patterns.

This grouping formed millions of years ago when these marine mollusks died and their hollow, gas-filled chambers sank to the ancient ocean seabed. Strong underwater currents or a mass-mortality event swept the shells into a tight, localized accumulation or tidal pocket, which was rapidly buried by deep layers of moist sediment. Over vast stretches of geologic time, the immense pressure compressed the sediment into rock, while mineral-rich water seeped into the hollow shells, replacing the organic aragonite structure with stable calcite and creating a beautifully preserved, crystalline prehistoric time capsule.

Fossilized over 100s of years, dug up, and polished, waiting to be displayed in your beautiful home!

Size: 8.5”x10” roughly 9lbs
