The Specific Scene LocationThis cut happens right at the end of Episode 1, inside the dark, half-destroyed classroom/hallway just before Keiki transports Youko across the Void to the Twelve Kingdoms. Because they are standing in the same room talking and fighting side-by-side, the layout artists drew them on separate matching layers (such as a Layer C and Layer D) so that the master animator could coordinate their heights and movements flawlessly in the final shot.
